George Oscar Sylvester (14 September 1898 – 26 October 1961) was a Labour Party politician local to Normanton.
Biography[]
In the 1930s and '40s Sylvester was Chairman of the Normanton Urban District Council. He won the Normanton by-election, 1947 against Conservative Enoch Powell and represented the town until the United Kingdom general election, 1950 where he stepped down to take the Pontefract seat until his death eleven years later.
