Court Rolls of the Manor of Wakefield Vol IV is a book by the Yorkshire Archaeological Society. It contains the records of the Court of the Manor of Wakefield from 1315-17. As Altofts was governed by the Manor of Pontefract, only Normanton (sometimes called "Northmanton") is discussed.

1315 - William of Rothwell[]
William Rothwell, "Parson" of Normanton Church, was accused by William Cussing of trespassing on his land. As Rothwell was a burgess (town-dweller) of Wakefield, it was decided Rothwell would be summoned to the Town Court on 10 October. Rothwell was unable to attend, with Henry of Wakefield essoigning him.
1315 - Assault[]
A session was held in Wakefield on the Thursday after the Feast of Luke the Evangelist over the assault of a monk. Brother Roger, a member of the Knights Hospitaller based in Newland, was assaulted by "Henry, Son of Thomas of Normanton" and drew blood. Henry was fined 12d.
1316 - Pickard case[]
A case was summoned to the Wakefield Town Court on the Friday before the Feast of Saint Cuthbert the Bishop in John Pykard of Normanton's Pykard family. Pykard accused Richard of Wyttelay of trespass. The court had to be respited due to Richard being arrested and held at Conisbrough Castle for an unrelated offense. Richard withdrew his defense and payed Pykard 6d.
1316 - Birstall case[]
This case is unspecified. What is known is that it involved Richard of Byrstall (of the Birstall family). He was unable to attend the court held at Wakefield on November 25, and John Pykard essoigned him.
